Reusing event touchpoints from one edition to the next

For organisers who run the same event every year or every month: how to reuse physical touchpoints and update the content behind them.

Audience watching a presentation

Many events happen again and again: an annual conference, a monthly meetup, a seasonal festival. Yet much of the printed material is single-use. Programmes, signs and sponsor boards are reprinted every time.

Separate the touchpoint from the content

An NFC tag or QR code stores a link. If that link points to a page you can edit, the physical touchpoint can stay the same while the content changes. The tag on the registration stand or the sign outside the main room can open this year's agenda, then next year's.

Decide what is permanent

  • Permanent: registration stands, room signs, venue information points.
  • Per edition: badges and anything carrying dates or sponsor branding.

Before each edition

  1. Update the agenda, speakers, sponsors and Wi-Fi details.
  2. Check every touchpoint opens the right page.
  3. Test a tap and a scan on iPhone and Android.
  4. Remove anything left over from the last edition.

How TAPP helps

TAPP touchpoints open a page you control from your TAPP account. Between editions, you update the content instead of the hardware, and changes are live straight away.

Questions

Can I reuse NFC tags for the next event?
Yes, if the tag links to a page you can edit. Update the page and the tag opens the new content.
What about badges?
Badges usually change each edition, but the page they open can follow the same structure each time.
How do I check everything works?
Test a tap and a scan on both iPhone and Android for every touchpoint before doors open.
