Hot tubs, wood burners and heating systems are part of what makes a stay special. They are also the source of many guest questions, and getting them wrong can damage equipment or put guests at risk. The instructions are often in a folder somewhere else in the unit, which is not where guests are when they need them.
Put the instructions where the equipment is
A tag or plate next to the hot tub, beside the stove or by the heating controls means the guest can open the instructions on their phone while they are standing there. They do not have to remember what they read on arrival.
How to write them
- Use short, numbered steps.
- Add a photo of the controls, with the right button or valve marked.
- Say what not to do, as clearly as what to do.
- Include what to do if something goes wrong, and who to call.
Base your instructions on the manufacturer's guidance for your specific equipment. This article is general advice, not safety guidance.
Keep them current
When you replace a stove, change hot tub chemicals or update the rules, update the page the same day. Because it is a web page, every guest sees the new version straight away, with nothing to reprint.
How TAPP helps
TAPP tags and plates can be placed next to equipment and link to a page with your instructions, opened with a tap or a QR scan and no app. You keep the content up to date from your TAPP account.
